Admission Requirements

  • Complete application on PTCAS 
    • Submit all application materials to PTCAS for verification  
      • Application opens - June 15 
      • Priority enrollment – October 1 
      • Application deadline - May 31 
      • Rolling admissions 
  • Seat deposit 
    • If an offer is extended, there is a $400 deposit to save your seat. 
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited program 
  • GPAs: cumulative, last 60 hours, and prerequisite  
    • Recommend 3.00 or higher (on 4.00 scale)  
    • Preferred 3.20 or higher (on 4.00 scale)  
  • Letters of recommendation in PTCAS 
    • Submit 2 letters of recommendation to PTCAS 
      • One professional letter must be from a licensed physical therapist 
      • The second letter can be from a physical therapist, professor, pastor, coach or supervisor 
      • Personal letters from family or friend will not be accepted 
  • Personal statement (in PTCAS) 
  • Resume (recommended) 
  • Personal essay in PTCAS 
  • Fifty physical therapy volunteer/employment observation hours recommended 
    • Prefer a minimum of 8 hours in two different settings (acute, outpatient, inpatient, skilled nursing facility, home health, etc.) 
  • Up to 2 interviews 
    • Kira virtual interview offered to top applicants 
    • Final faculty virtual interview offered to the top applicants after Kira virtual interview is scored 
  • GRE is not required 
  • “Students whose first language is not English and whose undergraduate degree was not earned from an accredited college or university in the U.S. must submit official results of either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) directly from the corporation to OBU (institution code: 6541) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).” 
    • A minimum score on the TOEFL iBT exam 
      • 550 on the paper-based test 
      • 213 on the computer-based test or 
      • 80 on the internet-based test. 
    • A minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS exam 
  • Willingness to complete background check, drug screen and provide proof of immunizations and other health requirements for clinical experience placements if accepted into the program 
  • Applicants must acknowledge that they can meet, with or without reasonable accommodations, the essential standards and functions as outlined in the DPT Student Handbook.
