OBU's Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program blends rigorous, relevant academics with a distinctly Christ-centered foundation. Grounded in the mission of “all of life, all for Jesus,” our program integrates faith into teaching and learning to prepare graduates for both professional careers and meaningful service.
Designed in a hybrid format, the curriculum combines online learning with immersive, hands-on labs and clinical experiences that allow students to learn from home while completing an accelerated, high-quality course of study. Through our program, students develop the knowledge, clinical skills and professional competencies to improve the health, quality of life and human experience of their future patients.
Our faculty model a commitment to personal, professional and spiritual growth, fostering a learning environment centered on excellence, service, integrity and care. Our hope is to inspire our students to make a difference in this world long after graduating from our program—that our graduates will reason with their minds, serve with their hands and have compassion in their hearts to go out into the world and address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of individuals within their communities.
At OBU, we are future shapers—equipping graduates to make a lasting impact through excellence in care and Christ-centered service.
Online Learning
The online component of the program occurs asynchronously (working independently on assigned modules and tasks at your convenience) and synchronously (participation in live online classes with professors and peers). The online courses deliver foundational knowledge in physical therapy theory, research and practice through engaging, interactive modules.
You will have access to a robust online learning platform that includes video lectures, case studies, practical simulations, feedback-focused assignments and collaborative projects, allowing you to build a solid understanding of the profession from anywhere you choose. The curriculum is designed to foster critical and clinical thinking, ethical decision-making, professionalism and a Christ-centered approach to client care.
On-Campus Lab Immersions
Throughout the program, you will participate in rhythmic on-campus immersions (see course schedule for frequency), which provide opportunities for personal interaction with faculty, peers and clinical experts. During these sessions, you will refine your clinical skills and apply the knowledge gained during online learning in our state-of-the-art labs, simulations and workshops.
These immersions will help foster a sense of community and belonging, allowing you to integrate faith into learning while connecting Christian principles in real-world scenarios. Information will be provided on housing and meal options while traveling to OBU for the on-campus immersions.
Clinical Education
In addition to online coursework and on-campus immersions, you will gain extensive clinical experience. Placements will be made strategically to allow you to grow into a competent clinician. Clinical experiences will include three rotations in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The first two clinical experiences will be two eight-week rotations, and the final experience will be a 15-week rotation. These experiences allow you to apply your knowledge, provide compassionate care to others, build your clinical competency and reinforce the importance of serving your community.

Accreditation Information
Oklahoma Baptist University is seeking accreditation of a new physical therapist education program from CAPTE. The program is planning to submit an Application for Candidacy, which is the formal application required in the pre-accreditation stage, on November 1st, 2026. Submission of this document does not assure that the program will be granted Candidate for Accreditation status. Achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status is required prior to implementation of the professional phase of the program; therefore, no students may be enrolled in professional courses until Candidate for Accreditation status has been achieved. Further, though achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status signifies satisfactory progress toward accreditation, it does not assure that the program will be granted accreditation.
