Chapel brings the OBU community together each week to worship and hear from speakers who challenge us to think about what it means to follow Jesus. But spiritual life on Bison Hill extends far beyond chapel. You’ll find small groups, Bible studies, student-led worship, prayer and opportunities to serve in Shawnee and around the world.
Sometimes growth happens in a room full of people. Sometimes it happens in a conversation with a friend or professor. Sometimes it’s a question you’ve never thought to ask—or a quiet moment when you realize your faith has become your own.

A Century of Stories
OBU was founded in 1910 with a simple but ambitious purpose: to provide an education grounded in both academic excellence and Christian faith. More than a century later, that mission continues to shape the university.
Generations of students have walked across Bison Hill, built friendships; discovered their gifts; and served in churches, classrooms, hospitals, businesses, communities and countries around the world.
The world has changed a lot since 1910, but the reason we’re here hasn’t.
