Supporting Your Prospective Student

Walking alongside your student as they discern their next step is a meaningful part of the journey. As you seek God’s guidance together, encourage your student to take an active role in finding the college that feels right for them. This parent guide for college students offers practical ways to support the college search, from visiting campuses and talking with admissions counselors and faculty to exploring academic programs and areas they’re most excited about.

  • Plan campus visits

    A campus visit gives your student the chance to experience the community firsthand, meet the people and see the spaces that could become part of their life, helping them reach a definitive “yes” or “no.”

  • Be a sounding board

    Ask questions about their academic interests and career goals, listen to what excites them and help them think through how each college could support their future. Your encouragement can help them thrive in college.

  • Help track deadlines
