November 10, 2025
OBU will host Chaplain (Lt. Col.) David Jordan as the featured speaker for the Veterans Services Day Chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the Recreation and Wellness Center.
A lifelong Shawnee resident and OBU graduate, Jordan serves as chaplain for the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the Oklahoma Army National Guard. He graduated from OBU in 2000 with a degree in applied ministries: youth emphasis and a minor in telecommunications.
He has more than 18 years of military chaplaincy experience, beginning when he received a direct commission into the Chaplain Candidate Program in December 2006.
Following completion of the Chaplain Basic Officer Leader Course, Jordan’s first assignment was with the 1st Battalion, 279th Infantry Regiment, where he deployed to eastern Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom from 2011 to 2012. He later served a two-year tour at the National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C., as personnel readiness chaplain for the Army National Guard staff chaplain.
Jordan has held multiple leadership roles within the Oklahoma Army National Guard, including deputy state chaplain and brigade chaplain in each of the state’s major subordinate commands. His military honors include the Bronze Star, Combat Action Badge, Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
In addition to his military service, Jordan is the senior pastor at New Beginnings Church in Shawnee, where he has served in pastoral ministry since 2008. He holds a Master of Divinity from Luther Rice University in Stonecrest, Georgia.
Jordan and his wife, Dacia, also an OBU alumna, have been married for 25 years. They have two adult children, Will and Anna, who is a current OBU student.
The Veterans Services Day Chapel will honor the service and sacrifice of veterans and active-duty personnel. The event is open to OBU students, faculty, staff and guests.
