OBU to Host Keyboard Academy Nov. 14-15
October 16, 2025
High school pianists from across the region are invited to attend the 2025 Oklahoma Baptist University Keyboard Academy, set for Nov. 14-15 on OBU’s Shawnee campus.
The annual event provides students with the opportunity to grow as musicians through lessons, workshops and performances led by OBU faculty and guest artists. This year’s featured guest is Dr. Siwon Kim, who will present a public recital Friday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cargill Center.
Kim will also present a master class to academy students on Saturday morning, Nov. 15.
The academy will conclude with a student recital on Saturday at 3:15 p.m. That performance is open to the public and will showcase the work of participating pianists.
Registration is $20, which includes a Keyboard Academy T-shirt. The deadline to register is Nov.1. Online registration is now available, and housing is provided on campus for those who select that option. Students may also choose to stay in hotels or with family.
The OBU Keyboard Academy is coordinated by Dr. Mark Franklin, assistant professor of music and the Burton H. Patterson Assistant Professor of Music and Coordinator of Keyboard Studies. Additional OBU music faculty are expected to lead instructional sessions during the two-day event.
The academy offers high school pianists an opportunity to work with college music faculty and guest artists, develop skills and knowledge in piano artistry, and build connections with peers who share a passion for piano. Register online here.
