Business Forum to Feature OBU Alumnus and Lawton Chick-fil-A Owner Jonathan Pickett

October 10, 2025

Jonathan Pickett, an OBU alumnus and now a very successful Chick-fil-A owner-operator, will speak at the OBU Business Forum at 10 a.m. on Oct. 27. The forum will be held on the OBU campus in the Tulsa Royalties Auditorium of the Bailey Business Center. He will speak on “The Journey of Stewardship: lessons learned along the way” and the lecture is open to the public.

Pickett graduated from OBU in 1999 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Marketing concentration. He went on to get his master’s degree in Christian education from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary. Pickett has been married to Michelle for 25 years and they have five boys: Bryson, Chase, Deacon, Easton and Max. Bryson is married and is pursuing his Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker University. Chase and his wife Kenley are in school at OBU, as is Deacon. Easton and Max are at home.

Pickett spent 12 years serving in the local church in student ministry. That time included serving in Garland, Texas, Capitol Hill Baptist, Oklahoma City and First Baptist, Edmond.  In 2010, Pickett felt the Lord leading him to serve outside the local church. That prompting led him to Chick-fil-A where, in 2011, he was hired as a manager at Chick-fil-A Yukon. In 2014, Pickett was selected as the owner/operator of Chick-fil-A Quail Springs Mall. On April 1, 2016, Pickett was selected as the operator of Chick-fil-A Cache Road in Lawton. In February 2025, he was selected for a second location - Chick-fil-A Lawton West - which is scheduled to open at the end of this year.

The seed was planted in 1999 when Truett Cathy, founder of Chick-fil-A, was the commencement speaker at Pickett’s graduation from OBU in Raley Chapel.

“Chick-fil-A‘s corporate purpose is to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and have a positive influence on all that comes in contact with Chick-fil-A,” Pickett said.

Pickett loves the opportunity he has to serve the community of Lawton, develop and grow his organization that will include close to 200 team members when the second store opens and seek to honor the Lord through his business.
