OBU to Host Baptist Renewal Conference Oct. 2
September 17, 2025
The 2025 David S. Dockery and Timothy F. George Center for Baptist Renewal (CBR) Conference will be held Thursday, Oct. 2, on the campus of OBU. The event will run from 1 to 5 p.m. and carries the theme “Retrieving Nicaea for Evangelicals.”
Registration is required for the conference and costs $10. Registration is available online.
The Center for Baptist Renewal describes itself as “a group of orthodox, evangelical Baptists committed to a retrieval of the Great Tradition for the renewal of Baptist faith and practice.” More information is available at www.centerforbaptistrenewal.com.
Current Master of Divinity students at OBU will receive partial course credit for attending the event as part of “Christianity and the Creeds,” taught by Dr. Brandon Smith, chair of the Hobbs School of Theology and Ministry and Graduate Director of Theology and Ministry Programs, and Dr. Fred Sanders, a theologian who studies and teaches across the full range of Christian doctrines, with a special focus on the doctrine of the Trinity. This comes a day after Sanders delivers the Herschel H. and Frances J. Hobbs Lecture during chapel at 10 a.m., Oct. 1, 2025, in the Recreation and Wellness Center at OBU.
