August 29, 2025
The Henry F. McCabe Family School of Education at OBU has announced the addition of two new faculty members for the 2025-26 academic year. Jalonda Bengs has been named associate professor of education and director of education partnerships. Ronnie Titsworth has been appointed visiting professor of education and director of the immersive classroom.
Jalonda Bengs
Bengs is teaching several education courses, including courses in special education. She will also lead efforts to establish and maintain partnerships with school districts working with OBU’s School of Education, helping to expand educational opportunities for their staff.
Bengs has 27 years of experience in education. She spent 16 years as a special education teacher before serving in an individualized education program writing role for three years with Clinton Public Schools. Most recently, Bengs has been the assistant director of special services for Yukon Public Schools. She and husband Jason have been married for 26 years and have a daughter, Britten, who is a freshman at OBU this fall.
“I am excited to join the amazing faculty in the School of Education,” Bengs said. “The rich history of developing effective teachers here is something I am eager to contribute to, helping to prepare the next generation of educators who will shape the future.”
Ronnie Titsworth
Titsworth is teaching several education courses, including those in secondary education. He will also serve as the director of OBU’s new immersive classroom located in Shawnee Hall, working closely with faculty and students to incorporate cutting-edge technology into the learning environment.
Titsworth brings 14 years of experience in Oklahoma public education, having served as a teacher, coach and administrator. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Education from East Central University. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Oklahoma.
He and his wife, Krista, also a public school educator, live in the Johnson area near Shawnee with their three children. They are active members of Wallace Baptist Church, where Ronnie serves as Worship and Technology Minister.
“What I am most excited about coming to work at OBU is the opportunity to integrate my faith into my passion for education,” Titsworth said. “The chance to build relationships with students and mentor them as they learn how to apply their faith in their studies and in their future careers. This opportunity is a door that only God could have opened for me.”
