Frie to Deliver OBU Winter Commencement Address Dec. 16 at First Southern Baptist Church

Rick Frie, senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Jenks, will deliver the commencement address during Oklahoma Baptist University’s winter graduation ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. at First Southern Baptist Church, 6400 S. Sooner Rd., Oklahoma City. During the ceremony, 49 undergraduate degrees and 20 graduate degrees will be awarded.
Frie began ministry in October of 1970 in Arkansas and for the last 40 years has served Oklahoma as pastor of First Baptist Nowata, Southwood Baptist Tulsa, First Baptist Mustang, and for the past 20 years First Baptist Jenks.
He also served as first vice president of the board of directors of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma and served as president of the state pastor’s conference of Oklahoma. In addition, Frie served on the Executive Board of the Oklahoma Baptists, and is currently a trustee of the North American Mission Board serving as chairman of the Evangelism Team.
Frie received his education from Ouachita Baptist University and Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. He has a passion for preaching, making disciples, and helping others grow in their faith.
He has been married to his wife, Diane, for 49 years. They have two children, Jarrod Frie, a 2000 graduate of OBU; and Sarah (Frie) Delacerda, a 2007 graduate from OSU, and seven grandchildren. Frie enjoys spending time with his family, especially the grandkids. He is well known around the church as “Papa Rick” to many.
