Fisher to Speak at Courage and Connection and Join Women of Vision Tea May 13
April 29, 2022
OBU First Lady Jill Thomas will welcome guest speaker Jamy Fisher for the next Courage and Connection event Friday, May 13, at 10 a.m. The event will take place at the Cargill Advancement and Alumni Center. All female OBU students are invited to attend the free event. Attendees are encouraged to bring their coffee or favorite beverage.
Fisher will also participate in a Women of Vision Tea, held the same day from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the President’s Room in Cargill. All members of Women of Vision are invited to attend the come-and-go event.
Courage and Connection is a recurring event on campus, hosted by Thomas. It is designed to bring together the female students on campus to share with one another, support each other and hear from ladies of faith who have dealt with similar circumstances in their own lives.
Women of Vision is a giving circle dedicated to empowering women through promoting philanthropic endeavors that aid in promoting OBU’s mission. Membership in the Women of Vision allows members to meet and network with other women and help direct financial resources to make major lasting impacts on Bison Hill. Membership is open to alumni and friends of the university who understand the potential women have in making a lasting impact on OBU. Annually, the Women of Vision meet to decide how to invest the money raised through their membership on projects at OBU. Each member votes for the project she deems worthy. The grant is then awarded to fund the selected project and members are kept up to date on the progress of the projects.
Jamy Fisher is an OBU alumna, wife and mom who has served alongside her pastor husband, Dr. Todd Fisher, for 28 years. They have served in four Oklahoma Southern Baptist churches including Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee where she taught a weekly Bible Study and was active in women’s ministry and college ministry. As Todd recently transitioned to the position of executive director-treasurer for Oklahoma Baptists, she is continuing to serve the women of Oklahoma through speaking and teaching.
Jamy is a mom to three kids and mom-in-law to one; son Zach and his wife Cassidy, daughter Carly, and daughter Anna. One of her greatest joys in life is to see women of all ages get excited about their own ability to study and understand the Bible. She is honored to have the opportunity to connect with students and ladies through these two events.
