University Ringers to Perform Two Concerts Dec. 5 in Midwest City, Mannford

OBU’s handbell choir, University Ringers, will hit the road for two performances Sunday, Dec. 5. In the morning, the group will perform at Meadowood Baptist Church in Midwest City during the 9:30 a.m. service. That evening, they will perform at Lakeside Baptist Church in Mannford during the 5 p.m. service.
The University Ringers is led by Dr. Patricia Nelson, OBU associate professor of music education. Founded in 1982, the University Ringers have a history of bringing handbell music to audiences all over the United States and Europe. The group has previously received the highest award presented by the Handbell Musicians of America. In recent years, the group has performed in Missouri, Illinois and Oklahoma, as well as high-profile performances on campus such as the annual Hanging of the Green.
The group will play a program of Christmas songs including “Carols of the Nativity” arranged by Mary Kay Parrish; “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” arranged by Dan R. Edwards; “Chatter with the Angels” arranged by Mark Arnold; “O Come, Little Children” arranged by Lloyd Larson; “Carol of the Wise Men” arranged by Fred Gramann; “Away in the Manger” arranged by Cynthia Dobrinski; “The First Noel” arranged by Sandra Eithun; and “Carol of the Bells/God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” arranged by Lloyd Larson. The group will perform its program during the evening service at Lakeside Baptist and will perform select pieces during the morning service at Meadowood Baptist.
Meadowood Baptist Church is located at 2816 N. Woodcrest Dr. in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Lakeside Baptist Church is located at 1641 Basin Rd. in Mannford, Oklahoma.
