Registration Open for Bison Stampede 5K and Fun Run Oct. 23
October 8, 2021
Registration is open for the 6th annual Bison Stampede 5K and Fun Run. The event will take place at 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, during “The Weekend,” OBU’s annual homecoming event on Bison Hill. The Bison Stampede is hosted by Bison RecWell and includes both a 5K race and a one-mile Fun Run.
The Bison Stampede is open to OBU students, alumni, faculty, staff and the Shawnee community. Both the one-mile and 5K races will begin at the Recreation and Wellness Center (RAWC) and continue through campus. Furry friends are welcome at both distances. Following the race, RAWC employees will present placement awards and medals to the runners.
Students may receive a discounted rate on registration for both the 5K and Fun Run if they register in person in either the lower GC or the RAWC by Oct. 13. Students registering by that date will save $10 on the 5K, making the price $15 instead of $25, while students registering for the Fun Run by that date will receive a $10 rate instead of the regular price of $15. They will likewise be automatically entered into a raffle for the chance to win a swag bag from OBU Athletics. For students registering after Oct. 13 and for all other participants, registration is available online or in-person in both the lower GC and the RAWC.
Bison Stampede is a USATF sanctioned event with a timing service. Registration is encouraged as early as possible so Bison RecWell staff can ensure all participants receive a bib number, shirt and medal. The registration deadline for guaranteed receipt of t-shirts following the race is Thursday, Oct. 21. Registration will be open up until the day of the race, but late registrants may not receive a t-shirt.
Event packet pick-up, including race day bib, will be held at the RAWC Friday, Oct. 22, from 2 to 8 p.m. and beginning at 6:15 a.m. the day of the race.
