OBU to Host Fall Choral Concert Oct. 26

The Warren M. Angell School of Visual and Performing Arts at OBU will host its annual Fall Choral Concert Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in Raley Chapel’s Yarborough Auditorium. The concert will feature the Bison Glee Club, the Bisonette Glee Club and the University Chorale. The community is invited to attend the free event.
The Bison Glee Club will perform five pieces, including “Shout for Joy” by Dan Davison, “The Drover’s Dream” by Vijah Singh and “Here is Love” by Steve and Vicki Cook as arranged by K. Campbell. They will likewise perform “Hallelujah” from Shrek as arranged by R. Emerson along with “How Firm a Foundation,” arranged by D. Forrest. David Goforth and Benjamin Badgett will be featured as soloists. The Bison Glee Club is under the direction of Dr. Stephen Sims, assistant professor of music, worship leadership, and is accompanied by Cameron Clark.
The Bisonette Women’s Glee Club is under the direction of Dr. Kelsey D’Emilio, assistant professor of music, and is accompanied by Claire Marquardt. The Bisonettes will perform six works, including “God of Wonders” by J.M. Martin; “Veni, Veni Emmanuel” by M.J. Trotta; “Tundra” by O. Gjeilo; “And I Can Sing” by J.D. Frizzell; “You Will Be Found” by B. Pasek and J. Paul from the musical “Dear Evan Hansen;” and “Joyfully Sing” by L.S. Spevacek. Featured soloists include Alexis Mullins, Allie Frank, Valarie Monteith, Katelynn Fair, Linda Zummer, Avery Marsh, Korbynn Owens and Zoe Burdess.
The University Chorale will perform eight pieces for the concert, under the direction of Dr. Louima Lilite, McGavern-Montgomery Professor of Music and professor of music, and accompanied by Landon Johnson, student conductor and pianist. The University Chorale will perform “Psalm 20” from the NIV as a recitation; “Adoramus Te” by G. Palestrina; “Spirit of God,” arranged by L. Wiebe; “All Breathing Life, Sing and Praise Ye the Lord” by J.S. Bach; and “Amor de mi alma” by Z.R. Stroope. Additional pieces include “They’ll Know We Are Christians,” arranged by L. Lilite; “Noel Ayisyen” by E. Desamours; and “Worthy to be Praised” by B.J. Smith. Student soloists include Becky Walters and Brock Brown.
