Fall Semester to Conclude with Three Winter Commencement Ceremonies Nov. 21

OBU will host three Winter Commencement ceremonies for fall 2020 graduates Saturday, Nov. 21. The day will include two ceremonies in the morning and one in the afternoon, in order to facilitate physical distancing. All ceremonies will be held in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium.

The first ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. to honor graduates from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The second ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. and will feature graduates from the Hurley College of Science and Mathematics, the Dickinson College of Business, the Hobbs College of Theology and Ministry, and the Angell College of Fine Arts. Dr. Paul Chitwood, president of the International Mission Board, will deliver the commencement addresses during both morning ceremonies.

The third ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. to celebrate graduates from OBU’s Graduate College. Dr. Nathan Mellor, CEO, author, and executive coach, will address graduates during the afternoon ceremony. Mellor is the CEO of Strata Leadership, LLC, in Oklahoma City and an adjunct professor in the MBA program in OBU’s Graduate College.

Each graduate will be allowed five guests and must reserve tickets in advance. Graduates should have received instructions for ticket reservations via their OBU email accounts. Graduates who did not receive the reservation email or have issues with reserving tickets may contact Campus Life at (405) 585-5250.

Commencement rehearsals for graduates will be held Friday, Nov. 20, in Potter Auditorium. Face coverings will be required for rehearsal. Screeners will check each attendee’s temperature at the doors prior to entering Potter Auditorium. Rehearsal for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences will take place at 9 a.m. Rehearsal for all remaining undergraduates will take place at 11 a.m. Rehearsal for students in the Graduate College will take place at 5:30 p.m.

All guests must wear a face covering to enter Raley Chapel. Guests will be allowed to enter Potter Auditorium beginning 45 minutes prior to their respective commencement start time. Guests will enter at the south entrance doors of Raley and will be screened prior to entering the auditorium. Entrance accommodations will be made for guests with disabilities.
