September 21, 2020
U.S. News and World Report has ranked Oklahoma Baptist University as one of the top ten “Best Regional Colleges in the West” for the 29th consecutive year. OBU also made the top ten for Best Value Schools and Best Colleges for Veterans.
“These rankings demonstrate the outstanding academic quality and personal attention students experience at OBU,” said OBU President Dr. Heath A. Thomas. “At OBU, faculty are invested personally in their students, building relationships beyond the classroom and serving as mentors who are invested in their students’ lives. Our students become part of a close-knit community within the student body as they earn a world-class Christian liberal arts education. Perhaps most significantly, OBU students learn how to use their gifts, talents and resources to shape the future for God and for good.”
The U.S. News Best Regional Colleges rankings compare 366 colleges and universities in a 15-state region on factors such as retention rate, graduation rate, student-to-faculty ratio, and other quality indicators. OBU has one of the best student-to-faculty ratios at 13 to 1.
The Best Value Schools are selected based on which colleges and universities offer the best academic quality and cost after accounting for total expenses and financial aid.
Rankings for the Best Colleges for Veterans are made by determining which top-ranked schools make pursuing a college education more affordable for veterans and active duty service members.
The complete rankings are now available online and will be published in the upcoming “Best Colleges 2021” guidebook. The data for the 2021 edition of Best Colleges was gathered by U.S. News in spring and early summer 2020.
