Kelly to Deliver Chapel Message Via Facebook Live March 25
March 25, 2020
Dr. Bobby Kelly, Ruth Dickinson Professor of Religion, will deliver OBU’s chapel message Wednesday, March 25, at 10 a.m. via Facebook Live on the OBU Facebook page. His message is from Mark 14:32-42, and he will examine how we should respond to challenging circumstances and crises we may be facing in life. The chapel service will be the first since the University moved to fully online learning for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester.
Kelly joined the OBU faculty in 1997 and has spoken often in chapel. In 2000, he was named the Rowena Strickland Professor of Bible, and in 2004, he was named the Ruth Dickinson Chair of Bible. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Clear Creek Baptist College in Pineville, Kentucky. He then earned a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He likewise earned a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies from Southwestern, where he served as a teaching fellow for three years.
Students will continue earning chapel credits for the remainder of the semester by watching the chapel message online and then answering a brief quiz in the University’s Canvas Learning System. Students who are unable to view the service via Facebook Live will also have access to the videos in Canvas after the live broadcast concludes. The messages will also be available on the OBU YouTube Channel on the OBU Chapel playlist.
