Rhone Delivers Chapel Message on Habakkuk Sept. 18

September 18, 2019

Tony Rhone, pastor of Galilee Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma, delivered the chapel message at OBU Wednesday, Sept. 18. The service was held in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium on OBU’s campus in Shawnee.

Rhone’s message was from Habakkuk 3, verses 17-19. He talked about how Habakkuk trusted in the Lord even though everything he cared for was being taken from him. Rhone urged students to think about how they would react if everything they loved was taken from them.

“Habakkuk was willing to tell God that even though he could take everything, he would still trust him,” said Rhone. “If that happened to you, if everything that you lean on was taken away, could you still trust God?”

Rhone is the pastor of Galilee Baptist Church in Shawnee and has been in that position since 2006. Before being called to Galilee Baptist, he was assistant-to-the-pastor at Fairview Baptist Church in Oklahoma City from 2004 to 2006. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis in management information systems from the University of Central Oklahoma. He then earned a Master of Arts in theological studies from American Bible College and Seminary.

When he's not preaching or serving at the church, Rhone enjoys spending time with his wife LaShai and their daughter Tonia, as well as playing golf, reading, traveling and cooking.
