University Holds Annual Summer Commissioning Chapel May 1

On Wednesday, May 1, OBU recognized all of the students, faculty and staff who will be serving this summer on Global Outreach Trips, in internships or at camps. The commissioning chapel service took place inside Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium. The student body was able to worship together and then pray over these teams of people who will represent the University all around the world.OBU sponsored teams will travel to locations in 10 nations on Global Outreach trips, including Colombia, Ecuador, England, India, Hawaii (United States), Israel, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland and Uganda. A group of 20 students and faculty will travel to London, England, on a study abroad trip, while the women’s soccer team will be serving on a trip to Alaska.
Students serve in internships on four continents, including North America, South America, Africa and Asia. Students will likewise travel on non-OBU sponsored trips to multiple countries, including Canada, Gambia, Honduras, Jamaica, Latvia and South Korea.
Students will also work at more than a dozen camp locations around the nation this summer, including Falls Creek, Pine Cove, CrossTimbers, IdRaHaJe, Kanakuk Kamps, Sky Ranch, Ponderosa and more.
The service concluded with a word of encouragement and prayer from OBU Interim President Dr. Pat Taylor. He thanked the students for being bold enough to go on trips such as these and encouraged them to fully rely on the Lord.
