March 26, 2019
True Voice, OBU’s 12-member acapella ensemble, will host its spring concert Monday, April 1. The concert will be held in Raley Chapel’s Yarborough Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the entire community.
Along with True Voice, the program will feature a performance by Doxology, a singing group from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kentucky. Doxology is a 16-member ensemble with rhythm section and their performance is part of a spring tour in the area. OBU alumnus Evan King is a member of the ensemble.
True Voice’s set will consist of multiple genres and styles of music, with arrangements of songs by Pentatonix, the Real Group, Kirby Shaw and OBU alumnus Paul Langford. Titles include the Beatles tune “I Will,” “Cheerleader” and “This is Me” from the Greatest Showman.
True Voice is an auditioned vocal ensemble of 12 mixed voices intended to serve as a high-profile musical ambassador of Oklahoma Baptist University. The ensemble performs literature (primarily acapella) encompassing a variety of musical styles, including but not limited to classical, contemporary, pop, jazz, country, gospel and spirituals.
