OBU Student Jillian Murphy Releases Fourth Book
December 21, 2018
Jillian Murphy, OBU junior nursing major from Frisco, Texas, recently released her fourth book titled, “Powerfully Weak.” The book was published by Tribute Publishing. Murphy based this book on her life verse, 2 Corinthians 12:9.
“Powerfully Weak” released in October and was written out of Murphy’s desire to help Christians.
“I wanted to encourage people to see that our strength doesn't come from us but from God,” she said. “He is the one who is to be glorified and should be our passion in life every single day.”
Along with continuing writing her books, Murphy also has a passion for speaking. She is currently working on her fifth book which will be a Bible study that encourages women to dive deeper into God’s Word.
“I would have never imagined being an author or a speaker, but God has opened doors for that to happen,” she said. “I think if you feel called to write that you should, and you should pray for an opportunity to come available to be published. In the meantime, keep writing.”
When she came to OBU as a freshman, Murphy had just published her first book, “The Four Seasons of Hope.” Since that time, she has learned a great deal which has helped her with writing her next three books.
“All of my professors were very supportive of me writing more books and have even come to some of my book signings and speaking engagements,” she said. “They have given me constructive criticism on how to improve in writing and speaking. I am very blessed to have Dean McHenry who has discipled me during my time at OBU and taught me how to balance ministry and college.”
Murphy’s book, “Powerfully Weak,” was endorsed by her former pastor, Dr. Tony Evans. It is now available for purchase on Amazon.
