OBU Art Club to Hold Christmas Fundraiser Dec. 6-7
December 3, 2018
The Art Club at OBU will host a Christmas art sale fundraiser Thursday, Dec. 6, through Friday, Dec. 7. The event will take place in the Art Gallery inside the Art Building, located west of Kickapoo and between University and Midland on OBU’s campus in Shawnee. Many unique items will be featured in the sale, including hand-lettered signs, paintings, pottery, prints, and jewelry, all created by OBU art faculty and students.
Joshua Burnet, assistant professor of art, invites the community to join OBU in supporting the arts.
“The Christmas art sale is an opportunity for the Shawnee community to see what the art students at OBU are producing, and hopefully take home a one-of-a-kind bowl, coffee mug or original painting for Christmas,” he said.
The fundraiser will directly affect the students in the art department by providing financial support for field trips, events and senior shows. Each item purchased from the sale will benefit both the artist and the Art Club, with the proceeds being equally divided. The Art Club currently has 32 members.
Caleb Cole, Art Club president, is excited for the rest of the OBU Community to see all of the hard work the Art Club has put into the show.
“The Christmas sale provides a way for people outside of the Art Department to see and experience art made right here at OBU,” he said.
The Christmas art sale will take place Dec. 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Dec. 7 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
