Dr. Mitch Glaser Brings Chapel Message Nov. 28
November 28, 2018
Dr. Mitch Glaser, president of Chosen People Ministries, delivered the chapel message to students and staff Wednesday, Nov. 28. He spoke from Romans and talked about his personal testimony coming from a strong Jewish family. The service took place in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium on the OBU campus in Shawnee.
Chosen People Ministries exists to pray for, evangelize, disciple, and serve Jewish people everywhere and to help fellow believers do the same. Being born and raised Jewish, Glaser shared his struggles with becoming a Christian. After becoming a Christian and sharing that with his family, he was rejected. His parents didn’t like to talk about it and several relatives refused to speak to him. He spoke about how he would pray for his family, specifically his mother. He would continue to be a light to them and pray the Lord would do work in their hearts.
“Evangelism begins with a broken heart,” he said.
Glaser shared that his heart was constantly being broken by rejection, which encouraged him to keep pursuing Jesus. He discussed the differences between the Jewish religion and Christianity, as well as how to witness to Jewish people. After years of prayer and many conversations, his mother did accept Jesus as her Lord and savior.
“God loved my mother more than I did and He loves your loved ones more than you ever could. He is more concerned with their salvation than you are,” he said.
He ended his message with an encouragement to students and faculty to continue to witness to those of the Jewish faith.
Glaser is an alumnus of Northeastern Bible College and holds a Master of Divinity in Old Testament from Talbot School of Theology as well as a Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary, School of Intercultural Studies. He is the co-author of “The Fall Feasts of Israel” with his wife, Zhava, and co-editor of “To The Jew First,” “The Gospel According to Isaiah 53,” and “The People, The Land, and The Future of Israel,” published by Kregel Publications. His evangelistic book, “Isaiah 53 Explained,” is now in 11 languages with more than 100,000 copies in print. He has written many articles for Christian periodicals and has taught at leading evangelical schools such as Talbot School of Theology, Fuller Theological Seminary, Moody Bible Institute and Columbia International University.
Glaser is married to Zhava, a Jewish native of Argentina who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Judaic Studies from the University of Southern California (in conjunction with Hebrew Union College); a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary, School of Intercultural Studies; and a Ph. D. in Jewish History from City University of New York.
Both of the Glasers teach at the Charles Feinberg Center for Messianic Jewish Studies — a partnership between Chosen People Ministries and Talbot School of Theology. The Glaser’s have two daughters, Miriam and Jenni.
