Spring Enrollment Begins Oct. 15 for Music Lessons and Ensembles at OBU

Oklahoma Baptist University’s Music Preparatory Department will begin accepting enrollment Oct. 15 for the spring 2019 semester. Members of the public are invited to enroll in private lessons, ensembles and classes, which begin Jan. 24. Early bird rates are available now through Dec. 1. Children and adults of all ages are invited to participate in high-quality musical instruction, conveniently located on OBU’s campus in Shawnee.
Through private lessons, music ensembles and classes, students will find a joyful musical experience tailored to their needs in the OBU Music Preparatory Department. The department offers private music lessons for all ages in piano, voice, strings, winds, brass and percussion. Private lessons are taught by OBU professors, members of professional symphony orchestras, and some of OBU’s finest music majors. Lessons are offered in 30-, 45- and 60-minute sessions.
School-age students may participate in Shawnee Honor Choir (grades three through seven) or Concert Choir (grades eight through 12). Students of all ages may participate in the string ensemble and jazz ensemble. Keyboard readiness teaches elementary music reading and piano skills for 5- and 6-year-olds, while keyboard concepts is a more advanced version of the class for second and third graders. Beginning cello class is for 4- to 6-year-old beginners.
