Hernandez and Gallaty to Deliver Fall Challenge Messages Aug. 21-24

August 21, 2018

Oklahoma Baptist University will host the annual Fall Challenge Chapel Series Aug. 21-24. The first chapel messages of the semester are traditionally known as the “Fall Challenge” and are a part of OBU’s Welcome Week, where students are welcomed and oriented to life on the OBU campus.

Services will be held in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 8 p.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.; Thursday, Aug. 23, at 8 p.m.; and Friday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m.

Robby Gallaty, senior pastor at Long Hollow Baptist Church in Henderson, Tennessee, will speak during the first three services Aug. 21-22. Following his powerful journey to salvation in 2002, Gallaty developed a passion for missions, expository preaching and disciple-making. He attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Divinity in expository preaching and a Ph.D. in preaching. Today, he strives to “make disciples who make disciples” throughout his life and at Long Hollow, where he has served as senior pastor since 2015.

Gallaty is the founder of Replicate Ministries, a program designed to equip local churches for disciple-making through training, coaching and other resources. He has written several books including “Growing Up,” “Firmly Planted” and “Rediscovering Discipleship.”

Gus Hernandez, spiritual formation pastor at Long Hollow Baptist Church, will speak during the final two Fall Challenge services Aug. 23-24. Hernandez serves on the executive team at Long Hollow, where he provides direction and oversight for the church’s disciple-making strategy, as well as on the board of Replicate Ministries as a discipleship trainer.

Hernandez previously served as the college and small groups pastor at Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and later as the college pastor for Christ Fellowship Miami in Miami, Florida, where he was involved in starting new college and young adult ministries around the city. He earned a Master of Divinity at Temple Baptist Seminary and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
