OBU Commissions Students, Faculty and Staff for Worldwide Summer Service

May 2, 2018

Oklahoma Baptist University hosted a special Global Outreach Commissioning service Wednesday, May 2, at 10 a.m. in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium on OBU’s campus in Shawnee. The university recognized and prayed for students, faculty and staff who will serve this summer in Oklahoma, across the United States and around the world.

Approximately 110 members of the OBU community were commissioned during the service. Trip locations sponsored by OBU’s Global Outreach center include Ecuador, England, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine and Utah.

OBU is well-known for its emphasis on worldwide service. The university currently has more alumni serving in international missions through the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention than any other university in the world.

Many of the endeavors represented in the service are facilitated by OBU's Avery T. Willis Center for Global Outreach. The "GO Center" unifies OBU's efforts to provide academic study and hands-on cross-cultural experience related to international ministry.
