May 15, 2018
Students in Oklahoma Baptist University’s Paul Dickinson College of Business competed in the second annual Bison Shark Tank Monday, May 7. This year, three teams participated in the activity with the Campus Sitters being voted as the best viable business proposal. Members of the team included Dalton Rhoden, Miranda Garza, John McCloy and Suzanne Afchain.
Through the Bison Shark Tank, students were able to demonstrate the practical application of entrepreneurship and general management principles. Students were challenged to identify a marketing need, develop a detailed business plan and launch their online businesses for customers. The students then pitched their proposals to a panel of experienced investors and professionals.
Dr. Richard Rudebock, Robert. L and Sara Lou Cargill Chair and professor of business, served as the moderator for the event. The panel included Dr. John Cragin, professor of social entrepreneurship and international business; Scott Timmons, president of Extreme Inflatables Inc.; Libby Melton, sales and product development manager for South Central Industries; Cornell Wesley, U.S. Commerce Department; and Casey Bell, president of BancFirst.
