The Bisonettes, OBU’s women’s glee club, will present their spring concert Saturday, May 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Raley Chapel’s Yarborough Auditorium on OBU’s campus in Shawnee. The concert is free and open to the public.

Established in 1954, the Bisonette Glee Club is celebrating 64 years of performance. As one of the premiere women’s choirs in the region, the group regularly performs at churches, schools and other venues. This year, the 63-member group is comprised of undergraduate students majoring in music, religion, art, nursing, biology, physics, psychology, communications studies and various other degrees. Members of the ensemble are from all over the world, including Oklahoma, Colorado, Arkansas, California, Hawaii, Alaska, Spain, Mexico and Haiti.

The spring concert will feature original compositions by Bob Chilcott, James Vernon, Michael Hannawalt, Kim Baryluk, Kevin Memley and Michael Cox. The group will be accompanied by junior piano performance major Rachel Foote and sophomore piano pedagogy major Emilie Griffin. The Bisonettes are directed by Dr. James Vernon, professor of music.
