Student Preacher Colin Crawford Delivers Chapel Message on Seeking Christ

March 7, 2018

Oklahoma Baptist University student Colin Crawford delivered the chapel message Wednesday, March 7, at 10 a.m. Faculty of the Hobbs College of Theology and Ministry selected Crawford, a senior pastoral ministry major, to deliver a message as the speaker for its annual student preacher chapel held each spring. The service was held in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium on OBU’s campus in Shawnee.

Crawford opened his message by expressing the honor he felt at being selected as the student preacher.

“James 3:1 says that teachers will be judged with stricter judgment than others,” he said. “I know I will be held accountable for every word I say to you this morning, because I am handling the true, living Word of God.”

Crawford’s message came from the parable of the rich fool in Luke 12, which he used to illustrate the dangers of pursuing worldly treasures.

“God wants us to live a life of dependency on Him,” he said. “He wants his people to realize that we can’t do this on our own. Life is too short, too hard, and too tragic. Our world is broken and crying for a savior.”

He closed his message with an emphasis on the brevity of life and the importance of following Christ.

“Dare to dream again,” he said. “Life is too short to waste it. Serve Jesus. Seek the kingdom.”
