February 14, 2018
The C-SPAN Bus will visit Oklahoma Baptist University Friday, Feb. 16, from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The bus is currently on a “50 Capitals Tour” and will be visiting Oklahoma City the following week on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
C-SPAN is a private, not-for-profit company founded in 1979 by cable television providers with the mission to make government more open to the American public, televising political proceedings to millions of households across the country. Today it's a service available in 100 million American homes and globally via the internet, providing round-the-clock access to public affairs and political events, U.S. government proceedings, international legislatures, as well as non-fiction book discussions and American history features.
The C-SPAN Bus is a multimedia mobile classroom that engages with teachers, students, viewers and elected officials to showcase C-SPAN’s extensive political programming and educational resources. Through interactive tools and C-SPAN representatives, visitors to the bus can learn about C-SPAN’s unique non-commercial, editorially balanced, non-biased coverage of public affairs and political events, as well as funding and support.
In addition to the visit, the C-Span Bus team will conduct short interviews for their #VoicesFromTheStates campaign, asking “What is the most important issue in your state?’ Those that wish to participate are invited to do so.
Students and all members of the OBU community are invited to come and experience this opportunity first-hand.
