BGCO’s Jordan to Deliver Winter Commencement Address on Bison Hill Dec. 15
December 4, 2017
Dr. Anthony L. Jordan, executive director-treasurer of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, will deliver OBU’s Winter Commencement address Friday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium. The event will combine commencement ceremonies for graduate students from OBU’s College of Graduate and Professional Studies and students from OBU’s six undergraduate colleges.
Following more than 28 years of experience as a pastor, Jordan was elected executive director-treasurer of the BGCO in 1996. Jordan earned a Bachelor of Arts from Southwest Baptist University and both a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2010, he was presented with an honorary Doctor of Divinity from OBU.
Jordan visited Bison Hill in October 2016 to deliver OBU’s Gaskin Lecture on Baptist History. His lecture focused on the contribution of Falls Creek to Oklahoma Baptist history. In September of this year, OBU presented Jordan with the Herschel H. Hobbs Award for Distinguished Denominational Service during the Falls Creek 100th anniversary celebration.
Jordan recently announced his plans to retire from his role as executive director-treasurer of the BGCO, effective in early 2018. His tenure of nearly 22 years stands as the longest of any to hold that role in Oklahoma.
Jordan is married to the former Polla Crutchfield. They have two children, Adrian and Alisha, as well as a daughter-in-law, Janae, and a granddaughter, Lydia.
