OBU Art Club to Hold Christmas Art Fundraiser Nov. 29 - Dec. 1
November 17, 2017
Oklahoma Baptist University Art Club will host a Christmas art sale fundraiser Wednesday, Nov. 29, through Friday, Dec. 1. The fundraiser will be held in the gallery of the Art Building, located west of Kickapoo and between University and Midland on the OBU campus in Shawnee.
Joshua Brunet, assistant professor of art, invites the community to join OBU in supporting the arts.
“The Christmas art sale is an opportunity for the Shawnee community to see what the art students at Oklahoma Baptist University are producing, and hopefully take home a one of a kind bowl, coffee mug or original painting for Christmas,” he said.
The fundraiser will directly affect the students in the art department by providing financial support for field trips, events and senior shows. Each item purchased from the sale will benefit both the artist and the art club, with the proceeds being equally divided.
The Christmas art sale will take place Nov. 29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 30 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Art Club will also host a grand opening event on the second day of the show, Thursday, Nov. 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. This will be a time for OBU and the community to enjoy hot drinks, sweet treats and festive music as they explore the pottery, paintings and prints created by local artists.
