Thomas Delivers Chapel Message on Seizing Opportunity

September 27, 2017

Dr. Ken Thomas, senior director of WinShape Camps and president of Connect Ministries, delivered the chapel message Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Oklahoma Baptist University. The message came from Mark 5:21-34 and emphasized the importance of pursuing the mission of Christ without missing the God-ordained moments. The service was held in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium on OBU’s campus in Shawnee.

Thomas used three main points to illustrate his message. He stated that a believer must be willing to pay the cost for the mission, they must embrace the interruptions that come along and they must seek out the one among the many. His message continued the chapel series, “Following Jesus: Understanding and Responding to the Call of Christ.”

“Once you spend your time, it is spent and cannot be given back,” Thomas said. “It is gone. And if that is true, then it means that every second we have is valuable and precious and meant to be spent on purpose as believers in Christ.”

Thomas graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in education and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity. He later earned a Doctor of Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Today, he combines his education with his passion for teaching, equipping and leading young leaders to serve as the senior director of WinShape camps.

Thomas also serves as President of Connect Ministries, which assists churches with connecting to their communities. Founded in 2006, God has used this ministry to partner with nearly 1,000 churches and has impacted more than 500,000 people with the Gospel.

Thomas teaches 8th grade Sunday school at his local church and enjoys preaching and speaking at churches and conferences. He and his wife, Norma, have three children: Nathan, Anna and Blake.
