Morris Delivers Business Forum Sept. 22 on ‘Fulfilling Your Purpose’

September 22, 2017

Oklahoma Baptist University’s Paul Dickinson College of Business featured alumnus Robert Morris as the speaker for the fall Business Forum Sept. 22. The lecture was held in the Tulsa Royalties Auditorium of the Bailey Business Center on OBU’s campus in Shawnee.

Morris, a 1993 alumnus, spoke to a crowd of undergraduate students, faculty and staff on the topic, “Business: A Platform for Fulfilling Your Purpose in Life.” He emphasized that God has a purpose for each individual life that can be fulfilled by seizing opportunities, remaining open to His leading and maintaining a sensitivity to cultural differences.

Morris spoke on the importance of using one’s career path to glorify Christ.

“There are a lot of platforms you can have,” he said. “Your career, or your business, can be your platform for fulfilling your calling in life.”

During the forum, Morris emphasized the importance of networking. He said that the business of creating relationships is something that crosses cultural boundaries and provides opportunities to share the Gospel.

Isabella Scarinzi, OBU marketing major, was in attendance and found Morris’ approach to building business relationships refreshing.

“It was especially interesting to me that he talked about networking not only as a form of professional development but also as a way to share the gospel,” Scarinzi said. “So, networking is not only for our benefit, but we network to share Christ.”

Morris is an entrepreneur and business owner who is passionate about being a high-impact Christ follower in the global marketplace. His 24-year business career includes corporate roles in project management, sales, business development and executive administration, as well as time spent in small business ownership. He and his family reside in Bixby, Oklahoma.
