Computer Science Majors Get Up Close Look at Paycom Careers
September 26, 2017
Paycom, a human resources and payroll software company based in Oklahoma City, paid a visit to students at Oklahoma Baptist University Friday, Sept. 22. The “Tech Talk” was held in Montgomery Hall, and the majority of the students who attended were computer science majors. The main purpose of the meeting was to provide the students insight into career opportunities with Paycom.
Throughout the talk, Lyndsey Hyde, technical college recruiter with Paycom, relayed the qualifications necessary to work for or intern with the company. She gave detailed examples of what a career in the Paycom world would look like.
“We have had some great former OBU students come to work for Paycom,” Hyde said. “We are interested in continually setting up events with OBU students so we can introduce them to Paycom, and I can get to know them for future job openings.”
In addition to Hyde’s broad overview of the company, a current developer at Paycom gave a more technical talk over an ongoing project.
“We are excited to host Paycom at OBU,” said Dr. Renita Murimi, associate professor of computer information science. “Over the years, several of our graduates have been employed at Paycom. Through events such as this, we hope that our students can learn more about how their computer science education may be used to find an internship or job in the area of software development.”
