Bandy Delivers OBU Chapel Message Sept. 13

September 13, 2017

Dr. Alan Bandy, Rowena R. Strickland associate professor of New Testament, delivered the chapel address at Oklahoma Baptist University Wednesday, Sept. 13. The service took place in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium on the OBU campus in Shawnee. Bandy’s message came from Isaiah 42:1-12. His message took place during GO Week, an annual week focusing on missions, with activities ranging from special GO Chapels to other missions-themed events.

Bandy spoke on the importance of joining in God’s mission and understanding its significance.

“I want to challenge your paradigm of thinking about missions as something we do in terms of our work for God,” Bandy said. “But rather, I want you to realize that God has always been on mission, and He invites us to join Him in what He is doing in His world.”

Bandy joined the Hobbs College of Theology and Ministry faculty as the Rowena R. Strickland associate professor of New Testament and assistant professor of New Testament in the fall of 2009. Before arriving at OBU, he served as assistant director of Ph.D. studies for Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Prior to that, he was an assistant professor of Christian Studies at Louisiana College.
