OBU Enrolls Record 416 New Students at Priority Enrollment Day
May 3, 2017
Oklahoma Baptist University welcomed a record-breaking 416 new students to Bison Hill Saturday, April 29, during the annual Priority Enrollment Day on OBU’s campus in Shawnee. The previous record number of enrollees on Priority Enrollment Day was 368, set last year.
Students and parents attended either a morning or afternoon session. During those half-day sessions, new students became acquainted with campus and all the academic, spiritual and social facets it has to offer.
They also met with their academic advisors, finalized their fall class schedules and received their student ID cards. Parents and guardians participated in breakout sessions. Then, current OBU students officially welcomed new enrollees by cheering them on with loud applause as they exited the Recreation and Wellness Center on campus.
“Priority Enrollment Day is one of my absolute favorite days of the year,” said Will Brantley, director of admissions. “Our admissions team works all year to help students find their place at OBU and to see them on campus at Priority Enrollment day is so rewarding. We get to see our new students meet their future classmates, sit down with a faculty member and enroll in classes, and celebrate with our current students and that day is energizing for the entire campus.”
“I love our admissions team and the way they serve our prospective students for the glory of God. They are the best admissions team anywhere. They pour so much of their hearts into their work with our students. We excitedly look forward to seeing what God does in these students’ lives while they are on Bison Hill and are thrilled that we get to be a small piece of that. We thank God for His blessing of our work and for His continued blessing of OBU.”
The University began the 2016-17 school year with an overall enrollment of 2,073. OBU has welcomed its three largest freshman classes in school history, all over the last four years.
