OBU to Host VEX Robotics Competition Dec. 3

November 3, 2016

Oklahoma Baptist University will host a VEX Robotics Competition Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Recreation and Wellness Center (RAWC) on the OBU campus in Shawnee. The competition, which promotes STEM skills in Oklahoma students, is open to sixth through 12th graders. Shawnee Economic Development Fund, Enviro Systems, Inc. and Wolverine will sponsor the competition. AT&T provided a grant to underwrite the costs.

The VEX Robotics Competition, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, is the largest and fastest growing middle school and high school robotics program globally with more than 16,000 teams from 40 countries competing in more than 1,350 competitions worldwide.

Each year, an engineering challenge is presented in the form of a game. Students build innovative robots and compete year-round in a variety of matches.

Registration for each team is $75 and the deadline to sign up is Wednesday, Nov. 30. For more information on the competition, visit www.robotevents.com.

OBU is currently looking for volunteers to work in shifts throughout the day of the competition. Lunch will be provided. For more information, contact Dr. Renita Murimi, assistant professor of computer information science, at renita.murimi@okbu.edu.
