OBU Crowns 2016 Harvest Court During Homecoming Festivities

OBU announced winners of the 2016 Harvest Court Saturday, Nov. 12, during halftime of the Bison football game versus Southern Nazarene University. The event was part of OBU’s homecoming celebration happening on campus throughout the weekend.
Senior students were nominated by their peers in six different categories: harvest queen, harvest king, best all-around woman, best all-around man, most servant-like woman and most servant-like man. The student body voted Monday, Nov. 7, to select winners in each category.
The 2016 Harvest Queen is Karis Johnson, pre-counseling major from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The 2016 Harvest King is Truett Ross, communication studies major from Edmond, Oklahoma.
The 2016 Best All-Around Woman is Lauren Ledbetter, psychology major from Ardmore, Oklahoma. The 2016 Best All-Around Man is Caleb Compton, exercise physiology major from Shawnee, Oklahoma.
The 2016 Most Servant-Like Woman is Emma Patton, communication studies major from Oklahoma City. The 2016 Most Servant-Like Man is Levi Phillips, sports ministry major from Wynnewood, Oklahoma.
OBU has a long-standing tradition of crowning the Harvest Queen, with the first queen being crowned in 1920. The tradition of crowning a Harvest King was added in 1996, along with the categories of Most Servant-Like and Best All-Around.
Harvest queen finalists included Gracie Perkins, nursing major from Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Abby Campbell, family and community service major from Durant, Oklahoma.
Finalists for harvest king included Blake Randolph, biblical studies and philosophy major from Wichita, Kansas, and Gage Johnson, Bible major from Seminole, Oklahoma.
Candidates for best all-around woman included Katie Best, worship arts major from Norman, Oklahoma, and Jordan Spencer, biochemistry major from Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Finalists for best all-around man included Cory McCalister, secondary Mathematics Education major from Midwest City, Oklahoma, and Chase Cheatwood, psychology pre-counseling major from Broken Arrow.
Finalists for most servant-like woman included Lauren Vela, family and community service major from Durant, and Beth Clark, elementary education major from Three Forks, Montana.
Most servant-like man finalists included Jeff Jolly, pre-counseling major from Allen, Texas, and Houston Franklin, pastoral ministry and biblical languages major from Durant.
