November 2, 2016
Dr. Vern Charette, assistant professor of preaching and chair of the preaching and pastoral studies division at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, delivered the chapel message at Oklahoma Baptist University Wednesday, Nov. 2.
In 1997, Charette decided to pursue a formal theological education. With the support of his wife, Jennifer, he attended Oklahoma Baptist University where he graduated four years later with honors. Afterward, he attended Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee, where he not only earned his Master of Divinity, but was recognized for his excellence in evangelism.
In 2006, his educational pursuits led him to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Theology as well as a Ph.D. in preaching. He continues to preach regularly, helping him to stay in touch with the local church and missions. He has a passion for text-driven preaching and he shares that with his students.
