Jordan Delivers OBU Gaskin Lecture, Details Falls Creek’s 99-Year History
October 3, 2016
Dr. Anthony Jordan, executive director-treasurer of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, delivered OBU’s Gaskin Lecture Monday, Oct. 3. Jordan focused on the contribution of Falls Creek to Oklahoma Baptist history.
"It's an honor to come and have the opportunity to speak about Falls Creek, which is so much a part of my heart," Jordan said. "I've given so much of my life in these 20 years to see Falls Creek become a greater place than it has ever been. If you've been there recently, you can see that, and I'm so thankful for it."
Throughout the lecture, Jordan detailed Falls Creek's history and spoke of the camp's purpose and mission.
"When preachers stand to preach, a part of their responsibility is to call young people to commitment, missions and ministry; to listen for the call of God on their lives, beyond the call to be a Christian or a follower, but to be called to invest their lives in full-time vocational ministry," Jordan said. "Over and over again, through these past 99 years, young people and sponsors have committed their lives to missions and ministry."
