Students to Serve Community April 9 as ‘One Body United’
April 7, 2016
Saturday, April 9, beginning at 11:30 a.m., OBU students will host the second annual One Body United event, organized by OBU’s Student Government Association, student life, and student ministry. The goal of the event is to engage and serve the Shawnee community as the hands and feet of Christ.
One Body United is an extended project of Serve Shawnee, an annual day during Welcome Week in August. The mission of this event is to come together once during the spring semester as a campus community made up of students, faculty, staff and alumni to serve the Shawnee area. The volunteers will serve at locations such as Cargo Ranch, the early childhood center, Good Shepherd Chapel, and various parks around Shawnee, picking up trash and weeding.
The event will begin with a lunch served by LifeChurch at 11:30 a.m. on the Raley Chapel lawn. The first 100 attendees will receive a free T-shirt. A worship service will begin at noon.
Following the worship service, volunteers will branch out to their various locations. Teams will finish projects and be back on campus by 3 p.m.
