Page Delivers Emotional Chapel Message March 2
March 2, 2016
Dr. Frank Page, president and CEO of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee, delivered a powerful and emotional message during OBU’s chapel service March 2. He shared the story of his daughter, Melissa, who took her own life in 2009.
He has authored a book, titled “Melissa: A Father's Lessons from a Daughter's Suicide,” which shares her story and serves to help others who are hurting through depression and suicidal thoughts.
He encouraged students who were hurting to seek help, and he challenged all students and staff to be the presence of God in the lives of their friends and those around them. He challenged them to share the message of John 14:1-3 and offer hope to those who are hurting and contemplating suicide.
Page assumed his current position in 2010, previously serving as president of the Southern Baptist Convention from 2006-08. In his current role, he oversees the convention work of more than 46,000 churches with more than 16 million members.
