H. B. Charles Jr. to Deliver Chapel Message March 9
March 7, 2016
H.B. Charles Jr., pastor of Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida, will deliver OBU’s chapel message March 9 at 10 a.m. in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium. His message will come from Zechariah, continuing the 2015-16 chapel theme on "The Minor Prophets: Twelve Contemporary Messages from the Living Text of the Old Testament."
Charles was called to pastor Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in 1990, following his father in that role after his father’s passing. At the time, he was a seventeen-year-old senior at Los Angeles High School. After graduating from high school, he studied at a small Bible college in Anaheim, California, that provided the opportunity to further his education while continuing to serve the church.
He enjoyed many fruitful years of service at Mount Sinai. In 2002, he contributed a chapter to the John Knox/Westminster Press publication, “Power in the Pulpit,” edited by Dr. Cleophus J. LaRue. He also continued to further his education to help fulfill his prayerful desire to write and teach alongside of his calling to pastoral ministry. He has been a frequent speaker in revivals, conferences and other church events around the greater Los Angeles area and across the country, including denominational service on the local, state and national levels.
In 2008, he was called to Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida, where he currently serves as senior pastor. He and his wife Crystal are the proud parents of H.B. Charles, III, Natalie Marie and Hailey Breanne.
