The Oklahoma State Games Bouldering Competition at Climb Up in Norman is an indoor rock climbing event open to amateur climbers of all ages and abilities. The competition was a single session “redpoint” format where climbers picked which climbs they attempted. Points were earned upon completion of a climb with more difficult climbs being worth more points. A competitor’s top five best and hardest climbs are summed for their final score.
Competing against two other schools, University of Central Oklahoma and University of Oklahoma, OBU’s rock climbing team consisted of Jacob Cunningham, freshman digital media arts major; Tucker Schultz, senior nursing major; Jessica Scott, senior interdisciplinary major; Joe Geraci, sophomore exercise and sports science major; Scot Pfister, graduate student in marriage and family therapy; and Beth Clark, senior elementary education major.
In their individual divisions, Cunningham placed 10th, Clark took second, Pfister won second place, and Scott placed third.
The team competed in Lubbock, Texas, Feb. 4. The team is preparing to climb in April at Oklahoma State University and Ozark Climbing Gym.
