College of Business Earns Accreditation for Next Decade
January 22, 2016
The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners has reaffirmed accreditation of the business programs in the Paul Dickinson College of Business at Oklahoma Baptist University.
OBU was first accredited by ACBSP in 1995. That accreditation was reaffirmed in 2005. The University is required to go through the reaffirmation process every 10 years to maintain ACBSP accreditation.
Dr. David Houghton, dean of the College of Business, was pleased with the reaffirmation process and grateful for his faculty and staff who received high marks. "As part of the accreditation process, most schools receive at least one note or condition,” he said. “A condition is a significant deficiency that needs to be fixed in a limited time frame. A note is a minor area of improvement that should be addressed. Our reaffirmation had no notes or conditions. This is great news and speaks to the quality of our education and assessment."
“Oklahoma Baptist University has shown their commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Dr. Steve Parscale, who will present the Certificate of Reaffirmation of Accreditation at the ACBSP Conference 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 19.
Established in 1988, ACBSP is the only organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the Paul Dickinson College of Business at OBU meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.
ACBSP currently has 1,220 member campuses, 233 of which are located outside of the U.S. Of those campuses, 962 have achieved accreditation and more than 160 are in candidacy for accreditation. For more information on ACBSP, visit www.acbsp.org.
