Jernigan, Rawls Shine During Fine Arts Musical Gala

November 6, 2015

OBU alumni Dennis Jernigan, ’81, and Arnold Rawls, ’82, wowed the audience during the University’s annual Fine Arts Musical Gala Friday night. They were accompanied by stellar performances from the University Chorale, David's Creed, Voce Vera and the OBU-Shawnee Community Orchestra.

Jernigan’s performance featured worship and contemporary Christian selections, all written by him, including “You Are My All In All,” “Thank You, Lord,” “Who Can Satisfy My Soul (There Is A Fountain),” and “We Will Worship the Lamb of Glory.” He is a renowned song receiver and author, penning hundreds of songs. He has also authored many devotional and self-help books, fantasy novels, and children’s stories.

Rawls’ performance featured opera classics from his successful career on the stage, including “O Sole Mio,” “Sanctus,” “Come Unto Me,” and “Nessun Dorma.” He has performed throughout the world and also spent many years serving in music ministry. He has delighted audiences with his tenor voice and his unique combination of vocal and dramatic skills in performances ranging from art song to opera.

Proceeds from ticket sales benefited the Warren M. Angell College of Fine Arts endowed student scholarship fund. A special video tribute will honor the late OBU Professor Emeritus of Economics Max Brattin, in recognition of a fine arts endowment established through his estate.
