Lilite Teaches on Amos During Chapel Oct. 14

Dr. Louima Lilite, associate professor of music, addressed OBU during chapel Oct. 14. He spoke from the book of Amos, continuing this year’s chapel theme of “The Minor Prophets: Twelve Contemporary Messages from the Living Text of the Old Testament.”
Lilite joined the faculty of the Warren M. Angell College of Fine Arts in the Division of Music in 2008. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music performance in voice and piano from Biola University Conservatory of Music. He then earned a master’s degree in voice performance and pedagogy from Penn State University. He earned a doctorate in voice performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music.
Prior to his appointment at OBU, he was a member of the voice faculty at Houghton College and Nazareth College, and a teaching assistant at the Eastman School of Music from 2004-08. He has taught, lectured and coached in the U.S. and overseas in private lessons, master classes, seminars and summer workshops. He is the coordinator of the annual North Haiti Music Camp in Limbé, Haiti. He has also served as an adjudicator for the Phyllis Triolo Competition and for NATS student auditions. His students have won various awards and have been invited and/or accepted at the Eastman School of Music, Juilliard, Michigan State in Ann Arbor, Penn State University, the University of Illinois and at various young artist and summer programs.
