Evangelist Ed Newton Teaches on Zephaniah at OBU Chapel Oct. 7
October 7, 2015
Ed Newton, staff evangelist at First Baptist Church Central Florida and well-known teacher and speaker, addressed the OBU community Wednesday, Oct. 7, during the 10 a.m. chapel in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium. He is a frequent camp speaker, having taught numerous weeks during Falls Creek as well as other youth camps. Newton brought a message on Zephaniah, keeping with this year’s chapel theme of “The Minor Prophets: Twelve Contemporary Messages from the Living Text of the Old Testament.”
Growing up in a home with two deaf parents, Newton learned to hear the world differently than others. According to his bio on ednewton.tv, he was radically saved in high school, through difficult circumstances and major hardships. It was through the spoken word of others and the written Word of God that clarified a call to ministry as a senior in high school.
He played college basketball at Clearwater Christian College while earning a Bachelor of Science in Church Ministries. He then earned a Master of Religious Education from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity from Trinity Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry in Pulpit Communication and Expository Preaching, also from Trinity.
