OBU Sees Large Turnout for Priority Enrollment Day
April 27, 2015
OBU hosted its annual Priority Enrollment Day Saturday, April 25, on its Shawnee campus. The event welcomes new students to campus to enroll for fall classes. In total, 306 students enrolled in-person for the fall semester, up from last year.
The day gave students and parents the option for either a morning or afternoon session. During those half day sessions, new students became acquainted with campus and were introduced to the academic, spiritual and social aspects of OBU's campus, also known as Bison Hill. Students also met with their academic advisors, finalized their fall class schedules and received their student ID cards. Parents and guardians participated in pullout sessions.
Upon completing the process, new enrollees were cheered by current OBU students, officially welcoming them into the OBU family.
"Priority Enrollment Day is such an exciting day for the admissions team," said Kirt Henderson, assistant director of admissions. "After months of hard work, it's rewarding to see hundreds of students and their families on campus. Every department played a pivotal role in the success of the day, and a large number of current students participated. They helped with academic advising, gave tours of residence halls, or served on the celebration crew. Whatever their role, their enthusiasm was contagious and ensured our new students are excited for their next chapter to begin on Bison Hill."
OBU will hold future in-person enrollment dates on campus June 5 and June 26 beginning at 8 a.m. The university will likewise hold in-person enrollment in Texas May 1-2 at First Baptist Church in Euless. Enrollment will be open Friday, May 1, from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, May 2, from 9-11 a.m. The church is located at 1000 Airport Freeway in Euless, Texas.
